Leadership and Awareness in the 21st Century

According to a recent study by McKinsey & Co. Nearly 85% of the new jobs created between 1998 and 2006 involved complex "knowledge Work" - solving problems, devising strategy, and discerning patterns within information. These patterns show a significant shift within the last century and are posing new issues to leaders, managers, and workers in the 21st Century enterprise.

The latest Brainpark Whitepaper called Aware Organizations highlights a radical new approach to management and coordination of knowledge workers. This paper details how increased task awareness within a corporation increases efficiency, reduces redundancy, and empowers the workforce to take responsibility.

More Votes and Submissions this Year Signify Innovation is Vibrant at Enterprise 2.0

SAN FRANCISCO – June 12, 2009– TechWeb today announced the four finalists in the Enterprise 2.0 Conference Launch Pad program which provides a unique public forum for unveiling new social tools within the enterprise. The Enterprise 2.0 Conference is the first and largest worldwide conference and demonstration pavilion dedicated to exploring how Web 2.0 and social technology is dramatically changing the enterprise to make businesses more agile, efficient and adaptable in today’s market. The event’s Launch Pad finalists will present their new 2.0 tools and services to a live audience on Wednesday, June 24th during the Enterprise 2.0 Conference at the Westin Waterfront in Boston.

Participants this year posted their submissions first in Twitter format. Top submissions by community vote were then invited to upload a short video submission to the Launch Pad site to compete for the title and chance to present to the Enterprise 2.0 community at the event. On Wednesday, June 24th, after three intense rounds that resulted in over 15,000 votes from the enterprise 2.0 community, the four Launch Pad finalists will present their ideas to the audience of creators, evangelists and adopters of cutting edge technologies, who will then decide the winner. The winning Launch Pad participant will receive a free exhibit space in the 2010 Enterprise 2.0 Conference Demo Pavilion. Enterprise 2.0 Launch Pad is organized by Stowe Boyd, an internationally recognized authority on social applications and their impact on business and society.

The four finalists are:

    * Bantam - a provider of online workspaces for business teams with real-time, streaming “social CRM” to keep track of people and business

    * youcalc - where business people create and share custom reports and analytics on data from SaaS systems with zero coding required

    * Brainpark - a smart and simple software product that helps employees learn from one another and become more productive at work

    * Manymoon - a social productivity  application that makes it simple to share and organize tasks, events, documents, status, links and projects

“This year's response for the Enterprise 2.0 Launch Pad program was the best we've seen yet,” said Steve Wylie, General Manager and Conference Director for the Enterprise 2.0 Conference. “The sheer amount of companies participating signify the incredible innovation happening in the space. These elite four finalists will present their unique technologies to our audiences, demonstrating new and applicable solutions that can improve the way we work and communicate.”

Brainpark Top 50 Companies Winner

Canada08_50winners I am back in the office after another week on the road. I have been on the road now for 8 weeks or so and home on the weekends. I am relieved to not be traveling again for another 3 weeks until Worldblu Live in NYC.

The good news is that this last trip did have some highlights and benefits. Brainpark was given Top 50 Companies award by RedHerring and I have a nice plaque to hang up on the wall at the office.

Interop was a great experience also. I enjoyed helping out as a co-facilitator at the unconference session on ROI and security for social software within enterprise. We had some very engaging conversations and had a few aha moments too. Thanks to Alistair Croll for roping me in.

The trip finished at the Mullen Bros b-day party in Boston which was a riot. The less said about that the better...

StartupCamp at the Carlu

After watching this clip yesterday on Global TV I was tempted to bury it because I look like an over-stuffed turkey. Christine and Sarah at CEO TV did an excellent job and gave Brainpark some great promotion. If you have not seen the clip yet, watch at your own risk. From here on in you will find me at the salad bar...

CEO TV on Global

I just got notified that I will be on Global TV (Canada) on Saturday 31st May at 11.30am. The show is called CEO TV and is doing a showcase on start-ups in Canada. They came to StartupCamp about a month ago and filmed a bunch of us doing our thing. I was presenting Brainpark and giving the first public glimpse of what we are up to. We have been silent for a long time and doing the work behind the scenes so that we are ready and as prepared as possible for the aftermath of a launch. We will be remaining to stay reasonably quiet until we launch on a specific date early fall...

I have to admit to being a little bit nervous about the show tomorrow as I remember being giddy and feeling in my funny half-hour while doing the interviews. I hope I don't come across too crass or a bit of a nutcase.

Youtube

This week my kids came home from school and said: "can we go on youtube?". That calls for an interesting response due to some of the adult only content available. Maybe there is some way to set a filter but I have never taken the time to learn. They told me to type in "Numa Numa" and lo and behold a subculture opened up to me. It is like the peanut butter jelly dance youtube movement. I had to listen to the same song a dozen times to videos ranging from godzilla to Osama, and repetitive star wars options. I did laugh at Yoda doing the Numa dance...

All said and done I remembered again how many people use youtube every day. As a wise response I fired up 2 of the behind the scenes brainpark trailers created by the crew at Storystream:

The Final Collective

We lived in a world driven by technology, where information flowed faster than the speed of light; Communities became virtual and everybody was connected to the network.

The more we reached into the digital abyss – the more and more our real lives were lost. Then, one day, the abyss reached back…

This Summer the fight for survival goes online:

The Final Collective
